Job description - Paralegal

We are currently recruiting a full-time paralegal (Application deadline: 2 May 2022)

Role: We seek a paralegal in the Cambridge area to support the lawyers in this office. Experience in a legal context is preferred but not required.

We are a busy environmental law practice litigating environmental judicial review and nuisance proceedings through the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. Our small team has built a national reputation for taking on and winning precedent setting “David and Goliath” cases to further the protection of the environment.

Duties will include preparation of court papers and bundles; preparation of witness statements; answering the telephone and dealing with initial enquiries from prospective clients; traveling to the courts and counsels’ chambers to lodge papers; assisting the financial manager with billing, entry of incoming invoices, etc; attending court hearings and client meetings to take notes; and general administrative duties such as filing, scanning and archiving. Applicants can expect to become increasingly involved with the legal aspects of the role, with the possiblity of progression within the firm, as they gain experience of the kind of work we do.

As this role will be office-based, it will be important that candidates have a way of travelling safely to our offices in central Cambridge even if covid restrictions involving public transit are increased. Term: Permanent contract, start date to be agreed (as soon as possible).

Hours: 9.30am–5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Salary: £20,000 – 24,000 depending on experience
