Careers

We are currently recruiting for a litigator, and a planning lawyer.

Litigator – 3+ PQE (Flexible working available) (Application Deadline: 2 July 2021)

Salary - £Competitive

Richard Buxton Solicitors specialises in environmental, planning and public law.  We are looking for an experienced litigation lawyer of at least 3 years PQE, to specialise in litigating environmental nuisance claims.  We are a leading firm in this area and are looking for an experienced litigator to help develop a dedicated team of solicitors to deal with nuisance claims.

Candidates with experience in general litigation are encouraged to apply even if they know little of nuisance litigation (indeed many of us have a general litigation background), but we would hope to see an interest in using the law to protect the environment and help people.

We are a small firm with a big reputation in this area – we are based in Cambridge but work nationally, with a reputation for taking on and winning ‘David & Goliath’ cases to protect the environment. Our clients come to us for relief from a variety of sources of nuisance, including flooding and water damage, aircraft noise, odour and nuisance from industry and farming, and claims from individuals and on behalf of groups of residents.  We deal with civil and statutory nuisance claims. There may be opportunities for close liaison with planning and JR work.

We are prepared to consider all kinds of candidates for this position – both locally based and from further afield since the pandemic has fostered a new way of working with several of our lawyers working mostly from home.  We do have a hub office in central Cambridge, an easy walk from the central station, and whilst we have a preference for someone who would be willing to attend the office - at least occasionally – we are open to applications from those who live further afield for whom this would not be possible. Even for those locally based, we do not expect solicitors to regularly attend the office if they find they can work more effectively from home. Equally, whilst we would prefer someone to work on a full time basis, we would consider applications for this position on a part time basis for the right candidate and can offer flexibility in terms of hours as well as location.

To apply, please send a cv and covering letter explaining your interest in the position by email, with subject line “Litigator Application (ADM2/17)” to Krisztina Berces at kberces@richardbuxton.co.uk.
